Le petit prix
2016 will see Toulouse in France host one of the more unusual international races. The track will be a (111) crystalline gold surface at 5K within a UHV scanning tunnelling microscope. The race will be the first NanoCar Race for molecule-cars. It is intended that the molecule-vehicles will have a chemical structure of about one hundred of atoms, preferably with 4 wheels, a chassis and a molecular motor. During the races the vehicles can be propelled using tunnel electrons passing through the molecule-car, also by light or by nano-magnetic effects.

Unpronounceable-ium
Ununtrium, ununpentium et al will shortly be no more. The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry has reviewed the literature for elements 113, 115, 117, and 118 and has determined that the claims for discovery of these elements have been fulfilled. The RIKEN team in Japan having fulfilled the criteria for element Z=113 will be invited to propose a permanent name and symbol. The multiple collaborative teams across USA and Russia will similarly be invited to propose names and symbols for the elements Z= 115, 117 and 118.
